Hello! I am Rose, designer and founder of Jewelry by Rose and Velvet Antler. I was born and raised in Austin, TX. I have always been fascinated by art and the creative process. Over many years I have drifted in and out of jewelry, but I have always come back to it and realized I have a life-long passion for jewelry, design, skill and imagination. 

I moved to San Antonio to attend college where I received a BAAS in Fashion Design. The whole experience helped shape my understanding of the impact business can make with their materials, production practices and treatment of people as part of the voice and development of company culture. I believe in a slow business model of thoughtful design not high-volume production. I want my customers to love the pieces they have and wear them for many years. I am not interested in creating trendy pieces which contribute to waste and unsustainable consumer or business practices.

In 2009 I moved to Marfa, TX with deep intentions of creating my artistic life, I packed my collage materials, screen-printing equipment and sketchbook. I didn’t have a plan, but I knew in my heart that I was supposed to move to this tiny remote town. During this time in Marfa once again I picked up my jewelry supplies and started making. When the opportunity to open a store came along I jumped on it. Velvet Antler was centered around my line Jewelry by Rose and other small independent jewelry companies as well as gifts, textiles, clothing, vintage finds and art. The next step was to transition to a virtual boutique and pick up where the shop left off again with Jewelry by Rose as the central line. I now spend my time both in Marfa and Austin.
